Former Big Brother Naija star Boma Akpore has revealed how his blossoming romance, which was headed for marriage, crumbled after his partner’s family strongly opposed their union.
During a candid conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo on the WithChude podcast, Boma opened up about the heartbreaking turn of events, describing the relationship as beautiful despite occasional challenges.
The reality TV personality shared that he had already made concrete plans to propose, including scheduling a trip to the United States in August specifically to buy an engagement ring.
Boma explained how everything changed when his partner’s family stepped in, refusing to accept him based on negative perceptions they had formed about him.
The BBNaija alumnus believes this rejection was a direct result of the public exposure that comes with his celebrity status.
He revealed, “I found someone special and was fully prepared to marry her. Last August, I planned to fly to America, select the perfect ring, and propose because I was genuinely committed to her.
“Our relationship was wonderful – yes, we had minor disagreements like any couple, but overall it was ideal. Everything fell apart when her family intervened, saying ‘absolutely not’ to our relationship.
“This experience was truly devastating. If I weren’t in the public eye, certain aspects of my life wouldn’t be subject to such scrutiny. Fame comes with its own set of challenges that can unexpectedly affect personal relationships.”
