Spanish football sensation Lamine Yamal has been diagnosed with a hamstring strain, but Barcelona assures fans the injury won’t jeopardize his World Cup participation.
“Medical scans revealed a left-leg hamstring issue for Lamine Yamal,” Barcelona announced.
“The young forward will undergo non-surgical rehabilitation, ruling him out for the remainder of the club season but preserving his availability for the global tournament running from June 11 to July 19.”
La Roja will commence their Group H fixtures against Cape Verde on June 15, followed by clashes with Saudi Arabia (June 21) and Uruguay (June 27).
The injury occurred during Barça’s narrow 1-0 league triumph over Celta Vigo midweek, where Yamal’s decisive penalty proved crucial before his abrupt exit.
“Being sidelined at this critical moment cuts deeper than the physical pain,” Yamal shared on Instagram. “This isn’t goodbye—rapie—it’s merely an intermission. I’ll return with intensified determination.”
Since his 2023 international debut, the 18-year-old prodigy has netted six times in 25 caps for Spain. His match-winning contribution against Celta—a calmly converted spot-kick—was overshadowed by his anguished collapse post-celebration.
“Players of his caliber don’t feign injuries,” remarked Barça manager Hansi Flick. “These setbacks test our adaptability. Lamine’s absence is deeply regrettable.”
The victory extended Barcelona’s La Liga lead to nine points over rivals Real Madrid, with six matches remaining including their El Clásico encounter on May 10.
Despite missing weeks earlier this season with a groin issue, Yamal leads Barça’s scoring charts with 24 goals. The winger was instrumental in Spain’s Euro 2024 conquest and recently voiced his World Cup aspirations.
“Since childhood, I’ve visualized competing on football’s grandest stage,” Yamal confessed during the Laureus Awards. “Those two months will pass in a blink—I’m focused on lifting the trophy.”
Though recovering, Yamal remains a lock for Luis de la Fuente’s final squad alongside fellow recuperating stars Rodri, Fabián Ruiz, Mikel Merino, and Nico Williams. However, caution may delay his tournament start to prevent reinjury.
