Barcelona have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi in a deal worth €29 million ($33 million), potentially rising with add-ons.
The Spanish champions confirmed the five-year contract in an official statement: “Adeyemi becomes a new Barca player until June 30, 2031.”
This marks Barcelona’s second major signing of the transfer window following their acquisition of England international Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.
The 24-year-old German international arrives to strengthen Barcelona’s frontline after the departure of veteran striker Robert Lewandowski. Adeyemi’s versatility allows him to play across all attacking positions – as a central forward or on either wing – with his blistering pace being a particular asset.
Barcelona’s attacking depth took another hit with Marcus Rashford returning to Manchester United after his loan spell concluded.
In their continued search for firepower, the Catalan club has reportedly made an offer for Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez, who remains their primary transfer target.
The move represents a reunion for Adeyemi with Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, who gave the forward his Germany national team debut in 2021 during his tenure as Die Mannschaft coach.
Adeyemi joins Barcelona after four seasons with Dortmund, where he scored 36 goals in 146 appearances following his 2022 transfer from Red Bull Salzburg.
