Spanish giants Atletico Madrid have turned down a stunning €75 million offer for Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen, despite intense interest from Galatasaray and the player’s personal willingness to make financial sacrifices.

Industry sources reveal that intermediaries approached Atletico with Osimhen’s availability after Galatasaray greenlit the potential deal. The prolific striker was even ready to slash his current lucrative wages to seize the chance to work with renowned tactician Diego Simeone.

However, Atleti’s sporting leadership swiftly dismissed the ambitious approach for several key reasons.

Financial constraints in the ongoing transfer period proved decisive, along with the club’s continued faith in first-choice attacker Julian Alvarez. The Argentine international remains central to Atletico’s plans, with no consideration given to replacing him.

Osimhen’s dramatic salary concession—despite enjoying Turkey’s favorable tax regime for foreign athletes—underscored his determination to secure a move to Wanda Metropolitano. His current deal with Galatasaray runs until the end of the decade.

Despite the Nigerian’s persistent efforts to force the transfer, Atletico stood firm on their refusal to meet Galatasaray’s nine-figure valuation.
