Anthony Joshua, the former world heavyweight boxing champion, has broken his silence on social media following a devastating car crash in Nigeria that resulted in the loss of two beloved members of his inner circle.
The accident left Joshua with minor injuries but claimed the lives of his longtime friends, Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele, on December 29.
The 36-year-old athlete, discharged from medical care on New Year’s Eve, flew back to the UK on Saturday.
On Sunday, Joshua shared his first public statement since the tragedy across his social platforms.
Accompanied by a heartfelt photo alongside the grieving families of Sina and Latz, he captioned the post, “My Brother’s Keeper ❤️🕊️❤️.”
The emotional tribute, shared widely on his social media, highlights Joshua’s unwavering support for the bereaved families.
Funeral services for Sina and Latz are scheduled to take place later today.
The collision occurred when Joshua’s vehicle, traveling along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, reportedly experienced brake failure and crashed into a stationary truck.
Joshua had recently arrived in Nigeria for a holiday after his dominant win over Jake Paul. A split-second decision to move from the front seat to the back—due to his height obstructing the driver’s view—likely saved his life.
Though he sustained a fractured leg, his condition remained stable without requiring urgent medical attention.
