Afrobeats star Peter Okoye has issued a stern response to a social media troll who made disparaging comments about his deceased mother, Josephine Okoye.
The controversial post, shared by an individual named Ademola Ogudu, contained inflammatory claims suggesting the late Mrs. Okoye harbored ethnic biases during past family conflicts, allegedly opposing Peter’s intertribal marriage.
The offensive remarks included crude insults targeting the Okoye family’s personal history.
The original post read: “P.square’s mother displayed shocking prejudice, fiercely battling her own son when she was alive simply because he married outside their ethnicity. Such narrow-mindedness explains her unfortunate fate.”
Responding with visible emotion, Peter Okoye condemned the statements as profoundly disrespectful and painful.
He issued an ultimatum demanding immediate retraction and a public apology, threatening legal consequences for continued harassment.
“These vicious attacks against my departed mother are completely unacceptable. You’ve gone too far. Remove this immediately and issue a public apology, or face legal repercussions. This social media toxicity must end.🛑”, the music icon declared.
The offender subsequently retracted the statements and offered a remorseful apology.
The amended post stated: “@PeterPsquare I deeply regret my insensitive remarks about your late mother. Upon reflection, I recognize my words were cruel, unjustified, and crossed all boundaries. There’s no justification for dragging your family, particularly your mother, into any discussion.
I fully acknowledge my wrongdoing and understand the pain I’ve caused. My actions were inexcusable, and I vow to improve. Please accept my heartfelt apology @PeterPsquare @rudeboypsquare – you both remain icons deserving of utmost respect 🫡.”
