Fisayo Olagunju, popularly known as MC Fish and the former spouse of Nollywood star Anita Joseph, has broken his silence regarding their marital split, countering allegations about his career and financial contributions during their union.
Taking to his Instagram stories on Saturday, MC Fish revealed that Anita had initially pursued him, leading to their eventual marriage. He refuted claims that he was financially dependent on her, emphasizing his 15-year experience as a professional MC and hypeman.
Addressing rumors that Anita solely handled their expenses throughout their five-year marriage, he firmly denied the allegations, stating that he actively contributed to their finances. He also defended the legitimacy of his profession, pointing out that critics often hire hypemen for their events despite belittling the craft.
He remarked, “I’ve always stayed true to myself. She approached me, and things escalated to marriage. When it didn’t work out, suddenly I’m being labeled a freeloader? Let her dare claim she covered all the bills alone—nonsense. I’ve been in this industry for over 15 years. If you think I don’t earn my keep, that’s your ignorance. Just because you can’t afford me doesn’t mean I’m not successful.”
He continued, “The hypocrisy around hypemen is baffling. The same people who mock us end up booking us for their parties. If this job had no future, a high-profile actress like her wouldn’t have married me. Stop using my profession to tarnish my name—one day, your own child might choose this path.”
