Renowned Nollywood star Angela Okorie has issued a heartfelt public apology to her industry peer Mercy Johnson and prominent politician Senator Ned Nwoko.
In a candid Instagram post, the actress acknowledged her missteps, explaining that her earlier remarks stemmed from emotional distress.
She earnestly appealed for forgiveness from both parties, expressing genuine remorse for her words.
Her message read: “To all my wonderful supporters, these recent weeks have served as a profound awakening for me.
Reflecting on recent incidents, I’m simply grateful to have survived these challenges.
The public disagreements between Mercy Johnson and myself have circulated widely; I now feel compelled to address this situation properly.
As a human being, when emotions overwhelm me, I speak candidly from my heart – especially when wounded. While I typically move on quickly, I understand now that my words, even when born of pain, caused real hurt. Recent experiences have shown me the need for better restraint. I’m truly remorseful for affecting you, Mercy. Your wellbeing matters greatly, and I would never wish harm upon you or your loved ones – that’s simply not who I am. Please find it in your heart to pardon me.
I’ve also endured my share of deception and baseless assaults. False narratives have spread across blogs, accompanied by malicious videos containing outright fabrications. Though the betrayals cut deep, I choose to forgive all who’ve wronged me, leaving them to their conscience.
Additionally, I extend my sincere apologies to Senator Ned Nwoko. My defensive reaction during that unfortunate exchange was unnecessary, arising from what I perceived as unfair criticism that escalated unnecessarily. I now recognize my response was inappropriate. Disrespecting you intentionally would never be my choice, especially recalling my participation in your political campaign alongside ZuleZoo and other artists.
I’ve also consistently supported your family’s annual children’s carnival when invited.
These reflections have taught me that maintaining peace always outweighs conflict. I sincerely regret my actions and ask for your forgiveness.”
