While vacationing in Lagos, the hip-hop icon debunked Western narratives, asserting that Nigeria’s safety concerns pale in comparison to the rampant dangers in the U.S.

Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., the acclaimed rapper known as DDG, has condemned Western media portrayals of Nigeria, labeling them as “misleading.”

The artist, currently enjoying a getaway in Lagos, dismissed claims about Nigeria’s danger levels, emphasizing that the U.S. faces far more significant security challenges.

He encouraged international travelers to experience Nigeria firsthand rather than rely on sensationalized reports.

In a candid video, DDG stated, “Let’s keep it real—America tops the list for danger. Nigeria? Not even close. Despite some security concerns, the level of gun violence and gang-related crime here doesn’t compare to what happens back home. So if you’re hesitant about visiting Nigeria, just come and see for yourself.”

DDG also addressed misconceptions about Nigerian food, revealing he’d been warned against local cuisine and told to boil water. To his surprise, he found Nigerian dishes, particularly jollof rice, both delicious and wholesome.
