U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, has reached out to global music icon Nicki Minaj with a special invitation.
The diplomat seeks to engage the superstar in a high-level dialogue addressing the global crisis of Christian persecution.
This diplomatic overture follows Minaj’s viral social media stance condemning reported attacks on Nigerian Christians, sparking international attention.
The development comes on the heels of former President Donald Trump’s controversial designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” regarding religious freedom violations.
Trump’s administration had also directed the Pentagon to strategize potential countermeasures against extremist groups operating in the region.
Minaj, a multiple Grammy-nominated artist, amplified the issue through her influential platform, contrasting Nigeria’s situation with America’s religious liberties while calling for global action.
Ambassador Waltz praised the rap superstar’s advocacy, extending an olive branch for collaborative discussions on international religious freedom initiatives.
In his public response, Waltz stated, “Your voice matters in this fight. I’d welcome the opportunity to discuss our global efforts to safeguard Christian communities under threat.”
“This persecution must end. It’s time for people of faith worldwide to unite against oppression,” the ambassador emphasized.
