Chuba Iwobi, father of Nigerian international Alex Iwobi, has opened up about the pivotal role football icon Jay-Jay Okocha played in shaping his son’s career.

Okocha, a former Super Eagles captain and Alex’s uncle, has been a guiding force for the Fulham midfielder since his early days.

Speaking exclusively to Molatsportsgist, Chuba detailed how Okocha’s presence left a lasting impact on Alex’s development.

“Jay-Jay’s influence on Alex cannot be overstated. During his time at Arsenal’s youth setup, we frequently traveled to Bolton just to watch his uncle in action,”
Chuba recalled.

“While Alex has crafted his own identity on the pitch, the technical brilliance and creativity he displays undoubtedly carry traces of Jay-Jay’s legacy. His uncle has remained a constant source of support.”

Okocha, who concluded his illustrious career at Hull City in 2008, continues to inspire the next generation of Nigerian footballers.
