Omije Ojumi

Nigerian gospel artist Alayo Melody has opened up about the challenges faced in arranging medical treatment abroad for his late colleague, Bunmi Akinnanu, widely known as Omije Ojumi.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, Alayo disclosed that despite securing a visa after multiple attempts, doctors deemed the singer too frail to travel.

He recounted, “We are deeply grateful to everyone who supported Omije during her illness, especially Prophet Sam Ojo and Prophet Taiwo Ojo, who generously covered her visa and medical expenses. After three visa application attempts, approval finally came—but by then, her health had deteriorated beyond the point of safe travel.”

Alayo also urged prophets to refrain from publicly sharing ominous visions about celebrities, emphasizing private communication instead. “If you receive a troubling revelation about someone, reach out to them directly. Death is inevitable for all, but let’s pray for longevity. Omije’s burial details will be announced shortly,” he added.

Akinnaanu passed away on January 12 in Lagos at age 46. Renowned for her worship anthem ‘Omije Ojumi,’ she transitioned from banking to gospel music, leaving a lasting impact on Nigeria’s Christian community.
