Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, has reinforced the travel ban on Fuji music icon King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, cautioning that any airline—domestic or foreign—found transporting him will face immediate suspension.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) had initially barred KWAM1 from all Nigerian airspace for half a year following a disruptive altercation at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport during the boarding of a ValueJet Lagos-bound flight.
Reportedly attempting to board with prohibited liquids, the musician clashed with security, prompting the pilots of the ValueJet aircraft to dangerously breach safety procedures while preparing for takeoff.
Both flight crew members involved have since been suspended by the NCAA.
Reacting to the incident, Keyamo described the confrontation as “a moment of collective lapse in judgment” by both KWAM1 and the airline’s crew.
He condemned KWAM1’s actions in obstructing the aircraft’s movement, emphasizing that no provocation could justify the captain’s decision to commence taxiing without proper clearance.
The minister stated, “Comprehensive reports from aviation agencies and video evidence of the August 5, 2025, altercation between ValueJet personnel and KWAM1 confirm an alarming safety breach.
“The disturbing footage reveals KWAM1 repeatedly positioning himself to physically block the aircraft’s path—an act tantamount to endangering hundreds of lives.
“While the content of his carry-on sparked initial controversy, the real violation lies in his deliberate obstruction of aircraft operations, comparable to hijacking attempts.
“Equally concerning is the flight crew’s reckless decision to initiate taxiing as security personnel struggled to remove an agitated passenger—a dangerous breach of ICAO protocols.
“While applauding the NCAA’s swift suspension of the pilots, I’ve questioned their selective enforcement and demanded equal consequences.
“Therefore, effective immediately, I’ve mandated the NCAA to impose reciprocal flight restrictions on KWAM1 pending full investigation. All airlines must comply with this directive or risk license revocation.”
