A viral video from the event showed a man resembling Churchill embracing Tonto passionately, fueling rumors of a possible reconciliation between the former couple.
Critics quickly accused the actress of disrespecting Churchill’s current relationship with Nollywood star Rosy Meurer, prompting a heated backlash.
Setting the record straight, Tonto Dikeh took to Instagram to debunk the false claims, revealing the man in question was actually Churchill’s uncle.
Her heartfelt response highlighted the deep bond she shares with the family, stating, “This false narrative is offensive and damaging. The gentleman in the video is my ex-husband’s uncle, who showed me immense kindness during my pregnancy and beyond.
“His wife, Aunty Vivian, personally drove me to the hospital when I went into labor and provided a loving home for my baby and me for half a year in America. Their generosity was unconditional, and spreading baseless rumors dishonors their goodwill.”
