Nollywood star Mercy Johnson has successfully secured the release of TikTok influencer Eedie Bliss from custody after intense public pressure.

Eedie Bliss walked free on Saturday after Johnson retracted her lawsuit, spurred by a viral social media uproar demanding justice.

The breakthrough occurred shortly after activist VeryDarkMan publicly criticized the actress, emphasizing that defamation cases should be handled in civil court rather than through criminal detention.

Joining the online campaign for Bliss’s freedom, VeryDarkMan issued a stern warning to the actress, prompting swift action.

Hours later, he confirmed Bliss’s release on Instagram with a post that read: “@MercyJohnsonOkojie, thank you for dropping the charges. You’ve proven yourself a true icon.

“From now on, I’ll take responsibility for any defamation claims against Mercy and her family. The harassment must stop—leave them in peace.”
Eedie Bliss had been detained days earlier for a controversial TikTok video posted in December 2025 targeting Johnson and her husband, Prince Henry Okojie.

In the video, Bliss accused Prince Okojie of gifting a property to a pregnant mistress and alleged Johnson’s involvement in a plot to induce a miscarriage, citing influencer Cutie Juls as her source.
