Renowned Nollywood producer and actress Funke Akindele has issued a heartfelt plea to movie enthusiasts, urging them to refrain from recording and circulating unauthorized clips from her latest cinematic work, Behind The Scenes. The star emphasized that such actions could jeopardize the film’s commercial success and negatively impact the entire production team.
Taking to Instagram on Saturday, December 13, 2025, Akindele addressed growing concerns after leaked footage from UK cinema screenings surfaced online. She stressed that capturing even brief moments of the film constitutes copyright infringement and threatens the movie’s financial viability.
The award-winning filmmaker highlighted the substantial budget invested in the project, expressing fears that piracy could result in significant losses. Instead of recording scenes, she encouraged supporters to engage appropriately by sharing cinema lobby photos and personal reviews.
Behind The Scenes explores the unseen challenges of celebrity life, delving into the psychological toll and personal compromises behind fame. Akindele’s Instagram post read: “Our team poured their hearts into this billion-naira project. Help us protect this labor of love by enjoying it the right way—in theaters, not through pirated clips.”
The star-studded production features Nollywood heavyweights Tobi Bakre and Iyabo Ojo, alongside rising talents Scarlet Gomez and Ini Dima Okojie. Following its UK debut on December 4, 2025, the film opened nationwide in Nigerian theaters on December 12, 2025.
