Renowned Nollywood star and gospel evangelist Eucharia Anunobi has opened up further about the heartbreaking loss of her teenage son, disclosing that medical missteps played a tragic role in his untimely demise.
During a candid discussion on The Honest Bunch Podcast, the veteran actress recounted the distressing events that unfolded while her child was under medical supervision.
Anunobi revealed that her son’s condition was dire when an inexperienced trainee doctor attended to him, making a critical error.
Instead of administering a life-saving blood transfusion, the medical trainee reportedly performed blood extraction—removing a dangerous three pints from the already weakened teenager.
The screen icon described the harrowing episode as both traumatizing and avoidable, emphasizing how the blunder severely compromised her son’s fragile state.
Beyond the medical ordeal, Anunobi shared the immense personal toll she endured while fighting to save her child.
She disclosed shouldering the entire burden—financial obligations, emotional strain, and logistical demands—without support from her estranged spouse.
The actress lamented: “The trainee doctor was supposed to give blood, not take it… I lost three pints from my dying son. I bore all the costs, handled everything myself—Charles never contributed a kobo.”
Her late son, Raymond Ekwu, had endured a prolonged battle with sickle cell anemia before succumbing to complications in 2017.
“They were meant to transfuse blood, but drained my son instead. I watched three pints vanish while clinging to false hope. My parents saw the red flags—I ignored them. I paid every bill, carried every burden… pic.twitter.com/ttXBHa0jMv
