Nollywood heavyweight Yul Edochie has ignited social media buzz after directly confronting Arise Television anchor Rufai Oseni in a fiery exchange captured on video.
In the now-viral clip, Edochie challenged Oseni’s credibility as an interviewer, citing a past traffic violation incident involving the journalist. The actor questioned whether Oseni had the moral standing to grill political figures on national television.
“Isn’t this the same Rufai Oseni who got caught illegally using the BRT lane in Lagos?” Edochie demanded.
“When traffic officials stopped you, instead of owning up, you were busy shouting about knowing the Lagos State governor.”
The actor claimed Oseni only offered an apology after footage of the incident circulated online.
“You wouldn’t have apologized if that video hadn’t surfaced. What does that say about your character?” he pressed.
Edochie further criticized Oseni’s interviewing approach, labeling it as needlessly confrontational and unprofessional.
“How can you invite guests just to humiliate them on air? Your job is to make interviewees comfortable, not antagonize them,” he argued.
“Telling guests they’re free to leave if uncomfortable isn’t journalism—it’s sheer disrespect.”
The actor particularly took issue with what he described as Oseni’s habit of belittling guests during live broadcasts.
“You constantly insult people on national television. This isn’t hard-hitting journalism—it’s just poor manners,” Edochie asserted.
Shifting gears, the actor defended President Bola Tinubu, urging critics to show more patience with the administration.
“President Tinubu is our duly elected leader—that’s a fact. The man just took office; meaningful change takes time,” Edochie said, adding, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.”
