Iconic Nollywood star Lalude has revealed that he and other entertainers were handed a meager ₦10,000 daily stipend for basic meals while campaigning for President Bola Tinubu before the 2023 polls.
The aggrieved actor shared his disappointment while addressing the economic struggles faced since Tinubu’s administration took office.
In a viral interview circulating online, the veteran performer disclosed he and fellow actors tirelessly promoted Tinubu for nearly two months without proper compensation.
Voicing his frustration, Lalude explained they only received minimal feeding allowances, with full campaign payments still outstanding after two years of the current government.
“We were given just N10,000 per day for food. Campaign work deserves far better remuneration, but they insisted on this paltry sum. Whenever they suspected we were saving anything, they’d either slash the amount or withhold payments for days,”
“After dedicating six weeks to the campaign trail, our rightful earnings were never settled. Those withholding our due compensation will face lifelong misfortune,” the thespian declared.
The outburst comes shortly after fellow actor Alapini expressed similar regrets about mobilizing support for Tinubu alongside numerous industry peers.
These revelations emerge two years following the contentious general elections.
