Celebrated Nigerian superstar, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has addressed the long-standing debate about the origins of his chart-topping track, *African Queen*.
During a candid chat on the *234 Mzansi Podcast*, shared on YouTube this Monday, the music legend firmly denied allegations of stealing the song from his ex-bandmate, Blackface.
He emphasized that the creation of the iconic hit was a joint effort between the two artists.
“It was a collaboration. While I penned the majority of the lyrics, we crafted it together,” 2Baba revealed.
Despite his openness about the creative process, the veteran artist voiced his frustration over Blackface’s relentless claims of exclusive ownership.
“Legally, the facts are clear. I won’t get into unnecessary drama. I’ve never understood his motives or what I did to deserve this,” he remarked.
2Baba reiterated his unwavering respect for Blackface, even amidst the public mudslinging.
“His accusations are outrageous, absurd, and sometimes deeply hurtful,” he admitted.
Pondering the strained relationship, he added, “To this day, I still question—why? There’s just no logical explanation for this.”
The *African Queen* saga remains one of Nigeria’s most contentious music industry disputes.
