Iconic Nigerian musician Innocent “2Baba” Idibia has broken his silence on widespread assumptions about his personal life, firmly denying any suggestion that he is a womanizer.
The Afrobeats legend described himself as an upfront individual and a dedicated romantic.
He made these revelations during an in-depth conversation with Voice of Nigeria, where he opened up about his experience as a father and the immense pressures of his celebrity status.
The artist tackled what he considers the most enduring and incorrect belief about his character.
“The most significant misunderstanding people have is labeling me a womanizer. I appreciate women, and I’m direct in my approach. But my true nature is that of a lover. I commit deeply to love,” 2Baba stated.
Shifting to a more personal note, the celebrated musician expressed deep emotion when discussing his role as a dad, confessing that balancing his global career with being present for his kids has been an immense personal struggle.
He revealed: “I am now a father to eight wonderful children. I feel incredibly blessed, yet it’s accompanied by a sense of sorrow for the collective time I’ve missed with them. It truly affects me at times.”
Despite this feeling of absence, 2Baba shared that his children remain his greatest source of pride and happiness.
“They are incredible, smart individuals,” he expressed. “My only regret is not being present more often. It’s an emotion that resonates deeply with me.”
The singer also commented on public narratives concerning his wife, Annie, specifically addressing critiques that portray her as domineering or as the primary force behind his choices.
2Baba asserted that such gossip is a gross misrepresentation of their actual partnership.
“Nowadays, everyone feels entitled to an opinion on other people’s lives. The comments can be incredibly hurtful.
“You learn to develop resilience, but some remarks still hit a nerve. The truth is, she is an intelligent and formidable woman.”
Beyond his stage persona, 2Baba unveiled a more introspective side, explaining that he is innately a private person who contends with shyness, a trait masked by his demanding profession.
“My career forces me to be outgoing, but at my core, I am quite reserved.
“There are times I crave solitude and quiet reflection. I also enjoy socializing on my own terms. I cherish nature; my moods vary widely.”
“The biggest misconception about me is that i’m a womaniser, people think I am but I’m not”
