The controversy ignited after Wizkid asserted his global influence surpasses Fela’s legacy, clapping back at Seun Kuti’s critique of fans drawing parallels between the Grammy-winning artist and the Afrobeat revolutionary.

In a preview of his upcoming interview on the Mic On podcast, 2Baba dismissed the debate as absurd, stressing that contrasting the two musicians overlooks their distinct musical journeys and cultural significance.

The music legend argued that Fela’s socio-political activism and Wizkid’s contemporary Afrobeats dominance represent entirely different chapters in Nigeria’s musical evolution.
