Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has confessed that the painful memory of losing the 2006 Champions League final continues to haunt him years later.
The French striker, who captained the Gunners during their historic run, suffered heartbreak as Barcelona staged a dramatic comeback to win 2-1 in Paris.
Despite taking the lead through Sol Campbell’s towering header, Arsenal’s dreams crumbled after goalkeeper Jens Lehmann received an early red card.
Barcelona capitalized on their numerical advantage, with Samuel Eto’o and Juliano Belletti delivering crushing late goals to snatch victory from the London club.
“Reaching the final was incredible, but losing it stays with you forever,” Henry revealed during a recent CBS Sports appearance, his voice tinged with lingering regret.
“That night still visits me in dreams – not the good kind. Some defeats cut deeper than others, and this one remains raw.”
The iconic forward, known for his clinical finishing, was unusually subdued against Barcelona, unable to find the net when his team needed him most.
