Jigawa State Police have apprehended 14 suspects in a crackdown on cattle theft, vandalism, and other crimes, recovering stolen livestock, motorcycles, and cable wires.

Authorities credited the arrests to intelligence-led patrols and cooperation from local vigilantes and community security groups.

On September 1, a Volkswagen Golf carrying three stolen cows was intercepted near Lautai Village. Four individuals from Abunabo Village were detained, later confessing to the theft during interrogation.

That same day, officers halted a suspicious motorcyclist along the Hadejia-Kano Road. The 27-year-old suspect from Yobe State admitted smuggling the motorcycle from Niger Republic to sell in Kano.

Earlier, on August 31, three youths were caught stealing security cables valued at ₦700,000 from a community. The cables were later retrieved.

In a separate incident, a farmer reported his red motorcycle missing near his farm. A local suspect was arrested and the motorcycle recovered after he admitted to the theft.

Mid-September saw another arrest—an 18-year-old was caught with vandalized cable wires. Two more suspects were nabbed on September 7 with a stolen goat and an unregistered motorcycle, both confessing to acquiring the items illegally.

Meanwhile, a motorcycle stolen during a robbery was discovered hidden in a farmland on September 4 and returned to its rightful owner.

Collaborating with a civilian task force, police also detained a teenager in possession of stolen bike parts. Investigations led to the arrest of an accomplice who claimed to have obtained the parts from a wanted criminal still at large.

The State Police Commissioner commended officers and local security teams for their coordinated efforts in maintaining law and order.
